That place called “Home”…….there’s nothing
Like it.
Home, family….we all need that.
Whatever the conditions, no matter what
Happened in the past, our souls long to go
Back to that place of comfort or chaos – that
Place that connects us one to another
That place that solidifies and validates our
existence
Memories may haunt us of times when things
Weren’t quite right, but when is everything
Really right?
There’s no perfect place this side of heaven
But we can be blessed by just a touch,
A word, a smell, sometimes a look
Some things are better left unspoken and yet
Just a touch of a hand can say everything is OK.
Can a heart be big enough to forgive even
When we know forgetting is not an option?
Sometimes we have to look at the pain in
Others in order to forgive the pain they’ve
Caused us. Not to begin again, but to just
Start from here, from now, loving anyway
As wretched and vile as people can be.
As wretched and vile as we ourselves can be
We are all broken, trying to put the pieces together
trying to complete the puzzle.
Sometimes you have to ask yourself if you
Can love yourself enough to open up one
More time because it’s in that opening up
that freedom is waiting…..tomorrow may be too late
Releasing some of that old “stuff” little by little
What if you could be free and clear of all
That “bad stuff”, all those words that hurt
You. What if you could come and go freely
Without concern of possibly being confronted
*************
Irreconcilable differences!!
You see them for who they are – but nevertheless you can’t
Miss your opportunity to be blessed by being
The bigger person.
Pain doesn’t last forever. Just got to be willing
To step out of that space of limbo, of neutrality and
into the safe space,
To see it for what it is and then truly let it go
Just let the moments, the hours, the days pass,
Looking for that time when all is well and your
Soul feels whole, rested and comfortable
Despite of all that was….
That’s when you will truly be HOME.
“The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” Maya Angelou
