Tell me another story please

“Once upon a time……..”

I’d sit mesmerized by just the mere

Intonation of the words spoken

It wouldn’t matter whether fact or

Fiction or some combination thereof

The words were like poetry to me

A sweet melody…..

Words, thoughts, feelings bouncing

Around in the atmosphere

And finding a resting place in my mind,

In my heart

Tell me another story please

She never knew how I looked forward

to story time.

She never knew the sheer joy she brought

To me with each new adventure

My escape from the oppressiveness of

Everyday living

I still marvel at the gift of her storytelling and

Although I’m older than she is – she was someone

I looked up to

Bright, intelligent, gifted in so many ways

Life always seemed to flow easy for her

And even when things weren’t perfect, she

Managed to make things perfect

“Once upon a time………..”

In a land so far away

I still look back with joy in my heart

I still look forward to more stories – the life and

Times of that little girl all grown up

My forever friend…….
