Buddy Attick Lake – Greenbelt, MD
I feast upon the sights and sounds of this place
That beckons me in the early mornings of summer
A place I give my all to when the chaos gets
Overwhelming
I shut out the cries of responsibilities and
Worries of sickness and death and I
Breathe new found oxygen of life and
I’m grateful to be among the living.
I watch the diamonds dance on the water’s
Edge and think of all those who have
Sprinkled their magic on my life – some old,
Some young, some expected to go on but life
Took them from me.
I marvel at the beauty of the lotus flower
And the brilliance of the black-eyed Susans
The cardinals and geese come to keep
me company every now and then.
I welcome the sun rays that course
Through my body soothing every ache.
I lift my eyes to see just how far I can see.
And yes, heaven is my goal, my future, but for
Now I’m basking in the wonder and glory of
This place until I get my wings and fly away.
