Lovie Jordan
2/22/1929-10/10/2017
Fighting each day to be there by her side….maybe today’s
The day they will talk or share a memory or two…..
He arrives to see that no, she’s still the same – no
Reaction. He wonders how many days he’s been
Coming here anxiously awaiting a response.
He only knows that here is where he belongs because
She’s here.
His heart breaks each time he has to leave without
Even as much as a glance, how his heart needs
Her response. Coyly he asks “can I have a kiss?” –
No response – not even the customary sound effect –
Un-un (no).
It appears she’s getting ready. No breakfast today,
No lunch, no dinner. His heart screams “No Lovie, not
Today, you can’t leave me today! I’m still here
I promised to watch over you. How will I tell the
Children? They’re counting on me.”
He goes over the years he’s had with her – some 60 plus
They say she’s 88. How can that be? Where has
The time gone?
He remembers her sweetness, her charm.
He remembers her passion for life, and her quest
For learning. He looks up at the paintings in her room
That she created. He stands in awe of just how
Talented she was. He doesn’t want to be alone today.
They’ve called for the children – they will be here soon.
They will know what to do.
He inches closer to her. Close enough for her to feel
His presence, he takes her hand in his. But she has
Her sights on someplace else, someplace far from the
Confines of this room they share for a few minutes
Each day. She seems to be just waiting, waiting
Can’t leave him alone – just waiting.
Just after the first child arrives she knows it’s time to
Go – everything is fine now, no need to linger. Calmness
Overtakes her and just like that
Lovie takes flight.

A Void and transition can be tough…..
Psalms 23:4
J,
I hope that you are still here and writing when I need a diarist. You added a beautiful sheen to her wings.
Thank you AE. What a wonderful compliment!!! Smooches!
Sad, yet beautiful.
Elegantly written.
Rest in Peace Mrs. Jordan…
I am so happy I slowed down to catch up. Well said and heartwarming.
What a beautiful transition. She knew he would be okay and she was at peace to take her flight. Love this
