Jason Jerome Hawkins
11/27/1987 - 7/31/2021
Sitting on a bench,
14th street & West Side Highway
New York
Etched in bold lettering is his name
I rub my fingers over the impression
As if touching the name will
Bring comfort - and somehow it does
Sun setting against the beautiful blue sky
Watching the ripples in the river,
Waves sparkling like diamonds I know he’s
Close, sharing in this moment
I’m sure he’s resting peacefully.
Everybody has a Jason story…..
Remember when Jason and I did…….
Remember when Jason did……..
Remember the time Jason………
It’s those stories, those times that keep coming back
Sometimes daily, sometimes every once in a while
Nevertheless, they always come back
Jason, larger than life, everybody’s best friend.
He found just the right way to affect so many people
I watched him evolve from that “not so
Confident” freshman in high school to this
Unbelievably dynamic, confident, self-assured person.
There are some people that have to live life
Quickly just to be able to fit everything in.
I suspect that that was the case with Jason
Always moving, energy level off the Richter
Scale, never to be matched
He got his wings much too early
Sprinkling moon dust on us he looks down to
See that yes, he was truly loved, and yes,
He’s truly missed - our Jason, son, grandson,
brother, uncle, nephew, lover, best
Friend, supporter of life, dreamer of dreams - God’s angel
So tonight when I look up at the stars I’m
Sure there will be one a little brighter than the rest
“Twinkle, twinkle little star
How I wonder “where” you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky”
You will forever shine!
“In memory of our beloved friend
Jason Jerome Hawkins
An angel on our shoulder”

What a great guy and a great tribute!!
Such a touching tribute. Yes we all have a Jason whom we think of often whom we feel gone too soon then you think gone too soon in who’s eyes
This is a beautiful tribute to Jason. Unfortunately, he left this earth too soon. May he rest in peace.
