“You will lose someone you can’t live without,
And your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news
Is that you never completely get over the loss
Of your beloved. But this is also the good news,
They live forever in your broken heart
That doesn’t seal back up. And you come through.”
Anne Lamott
You gave everything you had to him
He accepted you “as is” - the best and the worse
No load too heavy
You saw him, he saw you
Somewhere along the way love became
That permeable balm providing comfort
And ease necessary for the journey
All the adventures, the shared moments of joy and
Pain, of laughter and tears, of happiness
And disappointment - through it all nothing could
Separate you
Rooted in the wave of God’s love, the tides of life,
High tides, low tides he sent sunshine and energy
When you needed it most. It’s those thoughts
Those weighted memories of the best times,
Times of safety and protection that push forth now
As you continue life’s journey no longer two but one
So, in your darkest moments, or sometimes hours, that
Seem to move so slowly; on those days of gloom,
Don’t forget to look up and know that just beyond
The clouds await unspeakable JOY!
