“We are products of our past, but we don’t have to be prisoners of it.” ….Rick Warren
The stars aligned so perfectly in the sky
As we made our way to our small castle
On the hill and fell over in bed
I looked up to see stars on the ceiling
Glowing in the dark.
A planetarium of love.
There he let me touch him and I did over
And over again. I knew then that I would
Always love him and I did, and I do and
I shall
No matter the circumstances, no matter
The time or space he always comes back
To me and my heart always welcomes him
No matter the tears, or heartbreak
No matter those who have come and gone –
He remains constant……my forever love
Funny thing about memories, they change
With whatever the immediate need is……..
Today he is my Paul Newman in “Cat on a Hot
Tin Roof” full of desire for only me
Tomorrow he might be my Richard Gere in
“Pretty Women” asking me to stay one more
Night because I want to…..
Yesterday he was my Kevin Costner in
“The Bodyguard” protecting me from all the
Evil in the world.
It’s quite curious how the mind can play tricks on you
I awake from daydreaming to find that I’m alone in
My room.
Sometimes reality is better than day dreams
& memories that can really hang you up
(which after all are oftentimes
Jaded – not at all close to what really happened)
Not that I’d ever want to relive those days or
Those times, real or imagined.
I’ll take today
And hold on to all that is good and fulfilling in
This season of life.
Just maybe I’ve got my Paul Newman,
Richard Gere and Kevin Costner flavored
With a little Denzel Washington all wrapped
Up in one and I’m flying high.
