I, Lady J Duchess, (Jeannette Curry), grew up in the projects of Brooklyn, N.Y.  in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. I started writing as a teenager and have continued until now with some breaks in between. During my lifetime I have moved around quite a bit, from Brooklyn, NY to Philadelphia, PA to New Orleans, LA to Rochester, NY to Dayton, OH to Glenn Dale MD.  Maryland is where I chose to live whereas the other moves were not my choice. I am a single parent with three beautiful adult children.  I decided to start this webpage at the prompting of someone who has known me for some time and believes that my words have value. Sometimes you just need someone to believe in you – someone to encourage you and give you just a hint, a glimpse of what could be possible.

Others might look at my life and say “she’s not successful”, she doesn’t have this or that, but to me success is not about the things that I have or have not acquired, it’s about the peace in my heart, about not living in fear.  It’s about so many other intangibles.  It’s about knowing who I am and accepting the person I’ve become.  It’s about going on in spite of the obstacles.  It’s about the lessons I’ve learned, the lives I’ve touched, and the lives that have touched mine – the lives that have influenced my walk.  I may be scathed and scarred, but I am not broken, and what is more important is that I am still learning and living and giving and taking – I’m still in it!!!

“Reflections” is my way of sharing things that have happened to me and for me in hopes that my words will touch someone else with hope, encouragement or just some much needed solace in knowing that you are not alone.
